Have you been searching for just the perfect, gentle sweet puppy girl? I am Emmetta, a beautiful black lab born around xxxx. I am very docile as my adoptive mom was a senior lady so, I learned to be very calm and watchful of her. My Mom recently died and I have returned to the Humane Society....a place my Mom dearly loved. You see, my Mom was a full-time volunteer at the shelter when they found me and she just loved animals. I was found all alone on a country road early one morning. A volunteer came out to get me and found that I had a weed whacker cord tied very very tightly around my neck. I was having a hard time breathing as it was so tight.... the underside of my neck was severely cut from the cord...infected and oozing. They had no idea how long I had been just sitting there....hoping and praying that someone would come to help me...I couldn't go any further myself. The volunteer brought me to my Mom, who then took me to the vets and then nursed me at her home....she was so sweet, gentle and loving toward me. She thought she would be able to have me placed for adoption but she really was a softy - she couldn't let me go, she loved me so. So I stayed with my Mom, but each day, together we went to the shelter to volunteer. It was like my second home....I knew everyone and had lots of fur friends. My mom took me to obedience school, too. I really am smart - I am crate trained, housebroken, and I know lots of commands, too. I get along very nicely with cats and other dogs...because mom was always nursing some fur babies back to health at our home. I was a good helper for her. However, my mom grew older and weaker and I really took good care of her. I would go as fast as she would go or, when she was tired, I would slow down for her. They say I am a 'VERY DOCILE LADY'.... When she died, I went back to the shelter where they promised to find me a new forever home. They welcomed me and loved me but I was still so SO SAD and confused....I didn't understand why I was back at the shelter ...and why I didn't go home with my Mom at night. They kenneled me with an elderly beagle, named Zoey, so I would still be taking care of someone who needed me to watch over them and to be gentle. I am doing a little better now but I still LONG FOR A NEW FAMILY, a home and my very own person. They say I am such a sweet sweet girl. So patient, gentle, loving and I love taking care of my people. They say I would do well in any family and especially with a senior citizen, like her mom was. Do you have a special place in your home and heart for me, sweet Emmetta? I will take such good care of you and watch over you, just like I did my Mom. And you...... you will love me forever and we will be the best of friends.
